Mindful walks
‘When we combine the benefits of walking with mindfulness, we witness a perfect storm of improvements to psychological and physiological wellbeing’
Tsang, Chan and Cheung, 2008
Wild Gathering
Wild Gathering offers mindful walks in green and blue spaces across Worthing and Adur. Our walks invite people to slow down, connect with the natural world, and notice what is around them by tuning into their senses.
In a busy world, it’s easy to miss the small moments of beauty—the scent of flowers, the buzz of bees, the sound of flowing water, or the feel of grass beneath our feet. Mindful walking helps us pause, reconnect with nature and each other, and supports our health and wellbeing. Our walks are designed to reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and leave participants feeling calm, centred, and balanced.
Our Work
Since Wild Gathering began in 2020, we’ve been running mindful monthly walks in Worthing’s green and blue spaces for people accessing support through MIND, Social Prescribing and Carers Support West Sussex. These walks help participants slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and enjoy the restorative power of nature. In 2024, we began partnering with Sight Support to offer inclusive walks for people with visual impairments, helping them connect with their local blue and green spaces.
In 2023 we facilitated walks to carers across West Sussex, delivering monthly mindful walks noticing the changing seasons. Each walk invited participants to connect to green and blue spaces, notice beauty through their senses, and connect with one another. Participants created WordArt and LandArt, and each session was documented. This project culminated in the creation of a book capturing the journey.
